FRAMINGHAM CENTRE, MA INTERLOCKING

I need some help here. Am I looking south on the Lowell Branch beginning of double track mains to Framingham and the switch to the Fitchburg Branch is behind me?

Photographed by Bruce Nelson, September, 1970.

Yes. The gates should be the Route 9 crossing. Great shot!

Many years ago while traveling on Route 9, I always used to look forward to approaching this crossing, there were signals to be seen and the rails looked well-used.

Googling produced a link to a 1908 track layout blue print for the New Haven interlocking at Framingham Center and from your photo's vantage point there would be 3 tracks looking toward South Framingham and 2 tracks each heading to Fitchburg and Lowell! https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Framingham_Center_interlocking_diagram,_August_1908.jpg
