MBTA/B&M inbound to Boston at the Willows 1983

A de-motored Budd RDC-1 cab car leads an inbound MBTA train on the Fitchburg line passing the Ford auto unload yard east of the Stony Brook branch interlocking. So much has changed here in 40 years: the MBTA equipment is long off the property; the Ford yard has been re-purposed to load containers of municipal waste onto well cars; the Fitchburg track is owned by MBTA and is high quality double track with increased train frequency; B&M (owned by Guilford in 1983), operator of MBTA commuter rail, is long gone with freight traffic now handled by Pan Am Southern and CSX and commuter rail operated by Keolis.

Great picture! By the looks of the plated up roof hump, that Budd could be the "Boise-Budd" prototype #6148. Today, 6148 is alive & well and serve as a "table car" for the Hobo & Winnipesaukee Scenic RR. Last few years, it as seen time in both Lincoln & Meredith operations.
