Photo of Eastbound at Johnsonville
Eastbound at Johnsonville

In the summer of 1948, two FTs and one of the newer F's lead an eastbound freight at Johnsonville, NY. A few yards beyond the signal in the foreground is Johnsonville tower and the junction with the Troy branch. Steam was still in use on the locals out of Mechanicville (as well as on the Rutland passenger trains that ran to and from Troy) and the water plug was in full operation.

Photographed by Jim Wright, 1948.
Added to the photo archive by Jim Wright, November 5, 2000.
