The Fabulous Five-Oh-Seven

The MEC 507 (GP40-2Lw) has a rich history, the former CN 9472 was built in 1974, acquired by Guilford in 2000, and suffered a nasty cab fire in early 2014. The 507 was saved, shipped out and rebuilt in Paducah, Kentucky, then repainted and returned to service in May of 2015. Ownership of the 507 was also transferred to GATX and leased back to Pan Am. Notice the classification lights have been removed, similar to other recent Pan Am Geep widecab rebuilds ??

The 507 has been a frequent flyer of late on the local runs on the lines north of Nashua to both Concord and up to Wilton. Here is the sharp looking 507 tied down on the rickety Hillsborough Branch in Wilton in early March. It's a very slow ride back to Nashua on these tracks !
