Early Spring 2005 had arrived in Western Massachusetts before a date with Middlefield in late March. At "The Knoll" and the Middlefield Caboose just east of MP 131, frost was melting quickly as Q274 came down on Track 1 with signs of old in the form of an all-convention-cab trio of EMDs. SD40-2 8846 was showing its battle scars from many trips over this terrain and other locations in its long life.
