In the early morning of January 20,1984, fire broke out underneath the North Station piers adjacent to the Tower-A drawbridges. The smoke almost blocks out the rising sun as fire boats from Massport and the U.S.Coast Guard attempt to knock down this very stubborn fire.

Photographed by David S.Hutchinson, January 20, 1984.
Added to the photo archive by David Hutchinson, January 3, 2008.
