A layer of fresh snow, makes the area around the Concord Yard Tower look great! From 2/13/2017, this was an uncommon sight seeing two locomotives on the Nashua Local. Even almost matching paint, only difference is 504 has a meatball on the nose, 507 never got one at the time.. Both engines are GP40-2L(w)'s. 507 was painted back into Guilford paint in late July 2020.

The end of the Concord Yard Tower is close to happening, (as of 8/14/23) though 11th hour efforts to stop the demolition are very much under way. The Yard Tower was most recently used as New England Southern's Main Office, when they leased the line from Guilford/Pan Am to Manchester. When Pan Am retook the line in 2010, New England Southern vacated the building. In the 2010's, left both empty and unsecured, the Yard Tower became a home for the homeless. The windows were busted out even while homeless were living in it.. (Why??) and graffiti took over the outsides. Even with that the Yard Tower was built like a tank, stood well. .

The Concord Yard Tower is a small piece of Concord's railroad history that deserves a save. It's across the tracks from the Concord Gasholder Building, and adjacent to the building that houses the NH Republican Party.. Both structures are considered historical properties. The Gasholder Building is being saved..

The Yard Tower deserves a reprieve from the bulldozer.
