MEC 507 by Third Avenue in SomervilleHere was power for the CSX's Boston Local tied down for the weekend by Third Avenue in Somerville, Lots of construction activity going on as the 1927 built High Line Bridge, which carries Commuter Rail Trains to Lowell, is scheduled to be replaced by the Summer of 2024, according to the MBTA's website.
Even on a Sunday, road traffic heading inbound to Leverett Circle was at a very slow crawl to the right of this picture. A bridge carrying the Orange Line can be partially seen in the background, also the burnt out shells of two derelict Budd RDC-2's (B&M 6213 & 6214), nearby.
MEC 507 (GP40-2L) was built in July 1974 as CN 9472. The Guilford paint was returned to 507 in July 2020, after almost 5 years in Pan Am blue. 507 suffered a cab fire in early 2014 and was rebuilt for GATX in Kentucky, and for a time, leased back to Pan Am.
507's Guilford Heritage paint should be around for years to com.
