Rounding the City Point cut, Belfast, METhe City Point cut a little less than two miles inland on the B&MLRR's main line from Belfast to Burnham Junction is located between the "Beavertail" (MP 1.5) and the City Point trestle (MP 2.0). When made during construction of the line between 1868 and 1870 through a tongue of hard granite extending to the southern bank of the Passassakawakaeg River which the grade follows, this cut was one of the most difficult and expensive portions of the 33-mile line to build. It is seen here heading west from Belfast from BML#31, a steel body caboose built by the MEC in 1924.
