Where are they ?I remember coming up to the Berkshires and chasing trains. Actually chasing trains. Running on rte 20 and 8 between Chester and Becket, From Becket through Hinsdale and Dalton and back. Not as busy as the NS Pittsburgh line, but busy enough to keep you moving to get different shots. On any given day you could catch TrailerVan trains TV6, TV10, TV10x, Autorack trains, Symbol freights such as SEBO and BOSE, NESE and SENE, SEPW and PWSE, FRSE and SEFR. It seemed a non stop railfan joy, Tall hills and valleys, rivers and streams, bridges, dirt roads and paved, the smell of the pines and the smell of the creosote ties.
What happened?
The trip before last I caught one Amtrak Train (Lakeshore westbound) at Lower Valley road in Becket and one freight (westbound) at Chester.
This trip I caught ,in a five hour span from morning till 2pm, one westbound (three engines and one box car) a highrail truck and two MoW units.
Has CSX moved the trains to night running?
A horn blows in the distance, not a train horn, but a small MoW parade. three units pass Lower Valley road.
