B&M snowplow enroute to Lincoln NH

This B&M snowplow is clearing the line to Lincoln NH after two major storms in one week. (54 inches of snow between the two storms).

This is a regular Russell plow that probably came out of Concord. Before the abandonment of the Plymouth-Blackmount portion of the old BC&M line, there was an old double-tracked wooden snowplow stored north of the station on the Plymouth yard. It had trucks with inboard bearings similar to the old 4-4-0 pilot trucks. When I mentioned that to the RR crews, they said they were not re-purposed pilot trucks but were so to prevent freeze up of the bearings. I once saw a south-bound plow extra from Woodsville (through the Warren Cut) arrive in Plymouth with a standard Russell single track plow. The crew couldn't uncouple due to the couplings being frozen so they thawed it out with a fusee
