NHCR GP16 1732 at Groveton, NY

Lettered with New Hampshire Central Railroad reporting marks, GP16 1732 rests near the end of New Hampshire & Vermont trackage in Groveton, New Hampshire on August 27, 2001. The 1732 was originally constructed as Seaboard Air Line GP9 1961, later becoming Seaboard Coast Line 1035. When Seaboard Coast Line began their GP16 rebuild program in the early 1980's, 1035 emerged as Seaboard Coast Line 4632. The unit became Seaboard System 4632, before becoming CSX Transportation 1732. CSXT retired the unit on February 19, 1993 and Progress Rail Services acquired it. In November of 1997 through the end of 1999, the unit was leased by New Orleans Public Belt, before seeing storage in New Orleans for the first half of 2000. The unit was finally leased to the New Hampshire Central in June of 2000.
