Wreck on the BML - Wide Angle -

Sometime in mud season in 1977, pbly in mid April the BML was dragging a string of full grain hoppers down to Belfast from Burnham. They'd actually made a mistake, the grain mill in Belfast was still runing & they thought these cars were headed to that mill, when in fact they were destined for Thorndike just a couple of miles below Burnham Jct. SO this accident shouldn't have ever happened. As the train was just a mile or so out of Belfast the soggy ground gave way and most of the train rolled into the 'Passey'. I'd tell you the name of the river but you couldn't pronounce it any way, and if I pronounced the name 5 times you'd still get it wrong. /DL
