Crossing at Mac Allister's PointThis shows Don Donovan operating the OCNRR engine heading North on the Newport secondary track. To the left is the Narragansett Bay. The point of land in the far left is Mac Allister's Point. This was a popular picnic area in the late 1800's. It became the US Navy 'dump' in the early 1990's. It was the scene of a major, federally-funded environmental clean up operation in 2002.
