As exciting as chasing trains can be ... there are the "occasional" moments when nothing is running on the railroad one's next to.

Case in point: New Hampshire Northcoast. That's the lead to the Ossipee gravel pit in the right side of the picture. I'm on the left, reading AAPRCO's Private Varnish, though my copy of Robert Lindsell's Rail Lines of Northern New England (Branchline Press) made the trip, too.
