This is a photo of MEC 651 taken by my Dad that was taken at the foot of Railroad Street in Bangor facing the Penobscot River. Note the brakeman riding on the tender. I remember as a small boy setting in this very spot and watching the brakeman run (yes run)from the top of one car to the next and giving signals to the engineer. This was how it was done before radios. I wonder what OSHA would think of that?
