Two Views of the City Point Trestle -- 1940 & 2005

These two views of the City Point Trestle (two miles from Belfast) on the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad were taken some 65 years apart from virtually the same spot along the Oak Hill Road just outside of Belfast. The upper view taken in 1940 shows BML #19 (exBAR #54), a 1901 Manchester 4-6-0 (Builder's #1782) acquired from the Bangor & Aroostook RR in January,1940, crossing the trestle pulling a mixed consist on its way to Burnham Junction. In addition to a "refer" car (possibly bound for the Turner Center Creamery in Unity), the consist is also made up of BML #72 (exSSW #72), a baggage car acquired from the St. Louis & Southwestern RR in January, 1931, and BML #11, a 1907 wooden open vestibule Harlen & Hollingsworth built coach acquired from the Philadelphia & Reading RR (ex P&R #910) in January, 1927. I took the lower view of the trestle on July 20, 2005.
