Two Views of the Waterville Wye at Burnham Junction, ME 1947 & 2005

These two views of the Waterville wye at Burnham Junction were taken 58 years apart. The upper view, taken by Victor H. Rawstron in 1947, shows B&ML #19, (exBAR #54), a 1901 Manchester 4-6-0 (Builder's #1782) acquired from the Bangor & Aroostook RR in January, 1940, leaving Burnham Junction via the Waterville wye to return to Belfast with a consist of boxcars it had picked up there. Visible in the background is another boxcar which has just been left on the exchange track next to the MEC main line to be forwarded by the Maine Central to its next destination. I took the lower view of the Waterville wye from within a few feet of the same spot on July 16, 2005.
