The Joint B&ML/MEC (Guilford) Yard (Looking North), Burnham Junction, MEAt Burnham Junction, ME, the Portland to Bangor main line of the Maine Central (Guilford) meets the 33-mile long Belfast & Moosehead lake Railroad. For almost 90 years (1871-1960) passengers and mail changed trains here at the station jointly operated by the two roads, and for 135 years rail freight to and from communities throughout Waldo County was passed between the lines on the yard's exchange tracks. This view is looking North from the South end of the yard toward where the former station and freight houses once stood. The B&ML's Waterville Wye can be seen curving off to the right. The MEC's main line from Portland to Bangor is on the left. The station stood in the grassy area near the tree in the center of the image. (See the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad section on NERAIL for additional images.)
