Cow Tunnel under the M&L Branch, Salem, NH

This tunnel led the cows, from the former Tenney Farm under the now abandoned Manchester and Lawrence Branch. The cows then proceded to a bridge over Route 28, thence to the cow pasture. This bridge was the subject of a humerous cartoon, by Dahl, in the Boston Herald newspaper shortly before the bridge was demolished in 1960. If you wish to see what the cow bridge looked like before demolition see the following link. http://www.onlinesalem.com/cowbridge.htm
