Wheel grinder.

View of a wheel grinder at the Wellington Car House Shops. This device can grind out "flat spots" and minor variations on cars wheels, rather than having the wheel set "pulled". This saves time and energy, and results in having a car back in service much faster than previously possible.

Photographed by Paul Joyce, April, 1987.
Added to the photo archive by Paul Joyce, May 31, 2006.
Railroad: MBTA.
