Cobblestones and guardrail.

A view at the rear of Andrew Station in South Boston showing original guard-rail trolley track, initially installed by the Boston Elevated Railway for their service to Roxbury, Dorchester, and South Boston. This is Ellery Street, at this time still paved with un-covered cobblestone. The tracks are leading out towards the viewer to Southampton Street. By this time, buses had long since taken over these routes.

Photographed by Paul Joyce, 1983.
Added to the photo archive by Paul Joyce, June 3, 2006.
Railroad: MBTA.
