End of a pioneer.

Here, the following day, we see 0517 as it has been stripped in the Orient Heights Yard, in preparation for scrapping. These Number 1's originated heavy-rail service through the East Boston Tunnel, underneath Boston Harbor, replacing trolleys. The even-numbered cars bore pantographs. Odd-numbered cars retained their 1923 "as delivered" appearance, with the addition of the roof-mounted headlight for the "Revere Extension". Third-rail was used for subway service, catenary outside. On an upbeat note, I have it on good authority that the car's large Golden Glow headlight found a good home.
