Maverick Station.

A view of an abandoned section of Maverick Station, located underneath Maverick Square in East Boston. For years, this was the northern terminus for trolleys, first starting from downtown Boston at Court Street Station, then later Bowdoin Station, on their route underneath the harbor to East Boston. In 1924, heavy rail rapid transit cars replaced the trolleys. In 1952, the line was extended beyond Maverick to Orient Heights, and in 1954 further extended to Wonderland Station, Revere.

Photographed by Paul Joyce, 1988.
Added to the photo archive by Paul Joyce, July 14, 2006.
