Heavy Lifting off the Maine Central August 1914This quite an interesting photo. The MEC Baggage Car is on a track lower than the platform. There are two tracks flush with the platform, one of which has the small 2 axel car on it. There are 6 men rolling small barrels carefully out of the baggage car down a plank and loading them on the small car. There are 4or 5 more men supervising. What ever the cargo is it's heavy and apparently important. I'd like to think it is money, but there are no uniforms around and coins would be in bags I would think. I'm courious about the locaiton of the photo. Not much to go on except I've never seen a photo of a early 20th century MEC Station with tracks at two levels like this. Accordingly I suspect this is somewhere on the B&M. Anyone recognize the roof line & platform? Maybe this should be listed as a B&M station scene rather than MEC. /DL
