More Mattapan Trolley

The sign says it all. The MBTA operates 10 PCC cars on the line from Ashmont to Mattapan. The line is shown as part of the Red Line, although it is really a trolley operating on its own right of way (that's how it's high-speed). The PCC's used were built in the mid 1940's, rebuilt in the 70's and 80's, and rebuilt once more from 1999-2005. So, they're very nice looking. PCCs were used on the Green Line until as late as the mid 1980s. I wanted to see them in action myself, since they were to be stopped from June 24 2006 until June of 2007 while Ashmont Station is being rebuilt. These pictures were taken just a few days prior to the service suspension. Don't worry, I had a photo permit from the MBTA. I just wanted to make sure I put it to good use.
