The Old RR Station at West Stockbridge, MA - 1

This old RR station used to serve the former State Line Branch of the New York, New Haven, & Hartford RR many years ago. The State Line Branch connected with the Boston & Albany RR at State Line
(West Stockbridge) and was abandoned in 1959.
However, freight trains continued to run between
Rising (Great Barrington) and the village of West
Stockbridge until about 1964. The last track was
removed around 1965. The station shown here was built in the 1890s. The upper portions were added
by a developer in the 1970s. Today the building houses an art gallery and a small cafe. Photo by
John Bazan.
