Amtrak at work

When Amtrak was upgrading the Shoreline to Welded rail and concrete ties it leased a group of SD40-2 engines from Conrail. Here we see the 6428 sitting with a string of ballast cars between Meridian and Bridge streets in Groton Ct. The crew is waiting for an eastbound Amtrak passenger train to pass so they may regain their foul time. May as well read while you wait.
