Pan Am BFPO Power at East Deerfield, MA

Pan Am Railways BFPO power leaves the servicing area at East Deerfield Yard, MA at 12:50 pm on Saturday, 09/08/2007 and prepares to tie onto their train for the trip east. BFPO is a limestone slurry train that originates on the Vermont RR. After interchanging the cars at Bellows Falls, VT, Pan Am runs the train down the Connecticut River Line to East Deerfield and then east via the former B&M to Portland, ME. The train usually runs once per week with Saturdays being the best bet. Today, the train paused at East Deerfield to add extra power - needed for the climb out of the Connecticut River Valley. Pan Am GP40-2W 505 literally sparkles in the sunshine.
