Montreal, Maine & Atlantic parked its rail heater at Schoodic for several weeks. This end has a vibrator for stretching the rail as it is heated. The idea is to heat the rail and stretch it before joining it to the next rail. Then when it cools it contracts and pulls tight, hopefully preventing sun kinks.
