Maine Central Hartland Branch

This is a company photo from the former H. C. Baxter Snowflake Canning Company showing the Hartland, Maine packing plant, served by Maine Central Railroad. This plant contained the company's laboratories, and is where the frozen french fry was developed. The company was sold in the mid sixties, and this plant was closed not long after. The buildings still remain, but the railroad was removed in the 80's. This photo was in the company records, and probably dates in the early 60's. Note the tank car on the siding.

Photographed by UNKNOWN.
