Maine Eastern 488 passing Heritage Days Ferris Wheel in Bath

Bath Heritage Days is a popular four day festival for the 4th of July weekend that includes a carnival, live music, and fireworks. Looking down from the Route 1 bridge, Maine Eastern's evening westbound is seen passing the Ferris Wheel as it crosses the Kennebec River on the Carlton Bridge in Bath, Maine. Ten years or so ago, a shot from this vantage point would be impossible, as Route 1 crossed the river on the top of the train bridge. Today the highway portion of the bridge is a literal bridge to nowhere. Remnants of the road portion of the bridge can still be seen.
