PAS MOED at Pownal Curve, VT

PAS MOED is the second of three trains in a row to roll through Pownal Curve, VT on Saturday, August 21, 2010. The train is seen rounding the curve at 2:05 pm with 98 cars. Unfortunately, the train would only make it as far as North Adams before being "canned". Due to an apparent lack of crews, Pan Am has been "leap frogging" crews from one train to another. The result is that hardly any train makes it over the road with one crew. Another problem is that almost every siding is plugged with a parked train. In addition to MOED parked at North Adams, an empty hopper train was sitting at Buckland and a loaded coal train was idling at Hemstreet Park. I cannot imagine that NS is pleased that after spending tens of millions of dollars to upgrade the West End, Pan Am is using it as a parking lot for trains.
