Locomotive #5

White Mountain Central locomotive #5 rests after a long day of service on the annual Railroad Days celebration.
This 2-4-2T wheel arrangement locomotive was built by Burnham Williams & Co. (under license to the Baldwin Locomotive Works) in November 1906 at Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It was used on the East Branch & Lincoln RR. After its in service days were over, it was placed on display at the entrance to the Loon Mountain Ski Resort.
Long time E.B.&.L. locomotive engineer Ed Parent prepared the engine for long time storage in the hope that it would operate again.
The late Edward M. Clark negotiated an agreement with the Loon Mountain management that brought the engine to the White Mountain Central Railroad where it operates during Railroad Days in September.
