MMA#8569 (GE B39-8E) and MMA VB-2 (Remote Caboose) at MP 1, Searsport, ME

MMA#8569 (GE B39-8E) and MMA VB-2 (Remote Caboose) rounding the "Horseshoe" Curve at Kidders (MP 1) behind Cook's Crossing, Searsport, ME. The almost 180 degree, 2,600 foot long curve carries the line around the tip of Long Cove which separates Searsport from Sears Island. This is the former Bangor & Aroostook main line into the Searsport yard and docking facility on the Penobscot Bay which, for more than a century and a quarter, was the southernmost point on the BAR, a road which was was acquired by the MMA in 2003.
