Andover/Wilmington Double Track Project

Looking toward Boston you can see where it stopped laying rail but continued after the grade crossing in the background.

The handicap platform was built with this type of project in mind. A temporary wooden extenson was built over the old east track. The station platform that lies over the old east track is a temporary extension also that can be removed leaving the original platform there. MBTA trains will have to use the new east track to load their passengers unless there is land taking on the west track side.

Andover and Lawrence have but one single platform each and it is on the west track side requiring another crossover between Ballardvale and Andover
