The Massachusetts Coastal Railroad's Energy Train On Friday October 19th, 2012Photographed here is the MC 2008 clearing the historic railroad station located within West Barnstable, Massachusetts on The Cape Main Line. There were approximately six refuse loads that originated out of the Barnstable - Yarmouth Regional Transfer Station located within South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, all of which were destined for the SEMASS Waste - Energy incinerator at Rochester, Massachusetts. Lastly, the locomotive for today's run was a General Motors Electro - Motive Division (i. e., GMD) GP9RM numbered 2008. Unfortunately, I am unaware of its exact build date. If I were to guess, however, I would say sometime during the mid - to late - 1950's. Moreover, it was originally numbered 1209 for the Heart Of Georgia Railroad (i. e., HOG), before it was eventually acquired by The Massachusetts Coastal Railroad in November of 2007.
