HB-8 at Silver Spring

New Haven/Penn Central trains BH-7 and HB-8 were overnight piggyback trains operating between South Boston and the NH's Harlem River yard in the Bronx. A pair of former New Haven U25B's headed up a late running HB-8 at Silver Spring cabin on the north side of Providence. Anyone else remember Zayre's department stores?

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

Indeed I remember Zayres - the stores were sold to Ames in 1988 and Ames (which also acquired some Caldor and Bradlees stores) went belly up in 2002. Retail is a tough business: Jordan Marsh, Filene's, Lechmere etc!
