the day the bridge burnedOn January 20, 1984, an overnight fire destroyed the wooden trestle that comprised the south approach to the North Station drawbridges, cutting off the station for fifteen months. Massport and Boston fireboats poured water on the fire the following morning. The rebuilt bridge approach is now fireproof concrete.
