P&W local at BlackstoneWith a puff of smoke, Providence & Worcester B23-7 2201 leads local freight XW-1 out of Worcester through Blackstone, MA, on a fine summer day. Until 1966 this open meadow was the site of a small New Haven RR coach yard and engine layover that accommodated commuter trains from Boston, before service on the Midland was cut back to Franklin by the MBTA.
