P&L 1012 by Weeks Street at the Weirs

This was the scene from the 98th Laconia Motorcycle Week around Weirs Beach. The Winnipesaukee Scenic RR ran continuous shuttle trains between Meredith Station and Weirs Beach throughout the day. The key benefit was free parking at Meredith Station, and taking the train to the Boardwalk.

The 1970 built former Burlington Northern SW1000 was pushing four non-powered Budd RDC's to Meredith in this picture. This was sort of a look back to how the Budds were utilized on their last years on the MBTA Commuter Rail Service. The Budd lineup included RDC-1 #9151, RDC-9 #6921, RDC-1 #6105, and leading north with RDC-1 #9159.

News reports have indicated that the 2021 Bike Week was well attended, and certainly a welcome return to normalcy. By looking at this crowd, one has to agree!
