B&M 4268 F7A at FabyansSunday (9/18) the Conway Scenic with the 470 Club showed off the B&M 4268's return to active service by having it lead the westbound Mountaineer train to Fabyan Station. This was the final stages of the runaround, and soon would head east. Conway Scenic's GP7 #573 (Mr. Miller's Engine) led the way back to North Conway. This was 4268's first time west of Crawfords.
B&M 4268 was returned to active service in the Spring of 2022, after an incredible full restoration performed by the 470 Club at the North Conway roundhouse shops. Former New Hampshire Northcoast GP9 #1757 had almost all the parts needed to bring 4268 back to life. Prior to this restoration, 4268 was sold off by Guilford in the mid 80's to a private owner, where it was reported that it sat in a field. The 470 Club purchased 4268, and moved it to North Conway in the early 90's and cosmetically restored where it was on display for many years.
Seeing this historical F7A on the move, was quite the sight for the many railfans who followed the Mountaineer. This led also to even more people, who were not railfans, that wanted to know what the excitement was all about, especially on a less than perfect day weather wise.
What a sight !
