P&L 1012 by Weeks Street at the Weirs

Sunday, 10/30 was the final day of the Winnipesaukee Scenic's 2022 "local" excursions from Meredith through the Weirs to Paugus (Lakeport) for the season.

Even on the most perfect of late October days, there was a rather peaceful quietness along the Boardwalk, with very few souls in sight taking in the gifted warm weather. The MV Mount Washington and their other boat fleet were moved to their winter home in Center Harbor. Only a few businesses remained open.

P&L 1012 always makes a grand entrance onto the boardwalk when heading south. No one can miss the sounds of 1012's horn announcing it's arrival in between the buildings. The SW1000 was built as Burlington Northern 438 in 1970, became BNSF 3631, sold to Larry's Truck and Electric, and arrived for the Plymouth & Lincoln in September 2014. 1012 has been the main road power for Meredith ever since, displacing the ALCO S1's.

While the sister Hobo RR operation will soon be running Christmas trains, the Winnipesaukee Scenic operation is in hibernation until May 2023. Most of the Winnipesaukee Scenic's equipment was taken north to Lincoln on 10/31.
