The 40 year struggle finally ends
Last eastbound road freight to leave East Deerfield yard (on Wednesday) leaves Gardner; passing the Jade Restaurant; which itself has gone out of business Wednesday
This 4 unit freight expired after reaching Millers Falls
The units made it light power to Royalston, where they sat until Friday
There, they were rescued by the ED4 crew; the finest engineer/ conductor pair on this sad railroad
Leaving Gardner for points east; they are now known as ED495
