MEC 502 tied down in Concord

Here was MEC 502 tied down between crew changes by the yard tower in Concord. Since 2019, the 502 has been a common sighting on "These NH Rails", with this being the second 2023 appearance for the GP40-2L(w). 502 was the last of the 500 series to be painted in Pan Am blue, painted in late summer 2019.

Once by a sight taken for granted, in an area that has become overtaken with garbage, the CSX ownership has taken a small positive step to prevent trespassing vehicles access into this area. Locked gates have been recently installed to the right of the picture taker, and at the road entrance to the Concord Team Track with imposing signage urging those not to trespass on railroad property. This was taken before the gates were constructed.

502 is still the current road power for the Nashua Crews.
