CSRX 1751 at Bretton Woods

Here was Sunday's "Mountaineer" excursion as they headed west past the Bretton Woods shack headed for nearby runaround track at Fabyan Station, to prepare for the return trip to North Conway.

In a few weeks, Mother Nature's Fireworks will be in full force, unleashing the colors of fall on all those trees !!

CSRX 1751 is a GP9, 67 years young, originally built for the C & O. CSRX has owned 1751 for over a decade, in a swap of engines with the Finger Lakes Railway.

The trailing engine,CSRX 255 was originally built new for the MEC numbered 255 in November 1966. 255 was sold to Vermont Railway in the early 90's and became #203 for their Clarendon & Pittsford division. The GP38 was recently acquired by Conway Scenic in 2021, and is a direct sister to the former MEC and current CSRX 252.

The Mountaineer was pulling 2 dome cars, 5 coaches, and many happy riders.
