P&L 1590 on the Boardwalk at Weirs

From a perfect blue sky day, here was the P&L Crew taking 1590, 1 coach, 4 table cars, 1 caboose, plenty of passengers, and lots of turkey with the works catered by Harts Turkey Farm, as they headed south along the Weirs Beach Boardwalk, to Paugus (Lakeport) for a two hour ride.

There's still plenty to see and do at Weirs Beach this time of year, as many of the local businesses remain open into the three day weekend. The Mount Washington Ticket Office and boarding dock is the structure to the right,

The Winni Scenic will be offering 1 hour rides from Weirs, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until the end of October, and this Columbus Day Monday, too..

P&L 1590 is probably the only, if not one of a very few SW1001s pulling a tourist train, and not used in yard or industrial switching purposes. 1590 was built new for the Reading in 1973, then to Conrail, Norfolk Southern, sold to CIT Group. It has been part of the P&L since the fall of 2015, and painted to the P&L colors in the winter of 2021.
