Interesting to note that the blue trash containers were not part of this day's consist has been the case in the recent past. It may be economical, but it just just seems inconsistent to move trash along with intermodal priority freight.

NS doesn't consider its 264/265 IM trains as "priority" intermodal - ie, no UPS, FedEx, Prime, etc traffic is handled. And NS-published container cutoff to availability schedules show this as Ayer - Chicago transit time is roughly 80 hrs in both directions v. CSX Chicago - Worcester priority IM service which runs 50 hours eastbound and 34 hrs (!) westbound. But to your point re: economical: those blue Republic trash containers get a 750+ mile ride to Toledo without intermediate classification unlike most carload traffic in this lane.
