Milford-Bennington in Milford, NH

Opening Day!! Here's Milford-Bennington on the Hillsborough Branch by Granite State. It just pulled 16 ballast hoppers and its caboose from the siding. The 1st 6 are CSX hoppers and will be pushed back in and loaded in the siding by a front end loader and picked up Wednesday by CSX's NA-1. After loading the 6 CSX hoppers, the engine will cut off and take the rest of the train to Wilton and begin its season.

Hello Brian Were these hopper cars originally covered hoppers? I've never seen
"factory stock" cylindrical open top hoppers. What was their heritage?

Hi Allan
I'm sorry I can't answer that. I don't know but maybe someone else will. These cars have been with M-B for a very long time.

All I can tell you is that the reporting marks, GSAX is the Granite State Concrete Co.
