This is an ex B&M lightwieght passenger car acquied by the LIRR in 1959.
These cars had seating for 84, some were rebuilt to seat 117. Still others, like this car had a stationary bar in it for drinks and refreshments. With the bar the car could hold 33-82 seats depending the interior configuration of the car. This car was a sandite (3rd rail ice presvention) car at retirenment with a COT&S last performed in 1991. Car W-85 sits in the east end of the Ronkonkoma, NY LIRR yard on a dark and drizzly December afternoon.
